Registering for a fall trip? This required orientation is one of the building blocks supporting safe and rewarding experiences on the trail. Curious about volunteering? 5:30 pm arrive and social
6:00 pm start of presentations
7:00 pm wrap up / Q & A

What happens on a BWAC trail clearing trip? Find out more at this orientation and safety training, presented by crew leaders who will be out on trail with you, keeping wilderness trails accessible to hikers and backpackers.

Presentations:

  • Who is the Boundary Waters Advisory Committee (BWAC)

  • Overview and history of the three trails we maintain in the
    Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW).

  • I've registered. Now what? The BWAC crew hike and gearing up.

  • A day in the life of a trail volunteer.

  • Intro to tools, safety on trail, at work, and in camp.

  • Leave No Trace, BWCAW rules and regulations.

  • BWAC specific gear, water treatment, and food storage
