Registered for a spring trip? This required orientation is one of the building blocks supporting safe and rewarding experiences on the trail. Curious about volunteering? What happens on a BWAC trail clearing trip? Find out more at this orientation and safety training, presented by crew leaders who will be out on trail with you this spring, keeping wilderness trails accessible to hikers and backpackers.

Presentations:

  • I've registered. Now what? The BWAC crew hike and gearing up.

  • A day in the life of a volunteer.

  • Intro to tools; safety on trail, at work, and in camp.

  • Trail standards, BWCAW rules and regulations.

  • The gear list, apparel and layers for a spring trip.

  • Food and menu suggestions for backpacking. Food storage.

Meet & greet and logistics for your individual crew will happen at crew hikes arranged by each crew leader. (carpools, departure time and place, crew-specific group and individual gear, completing required forms)
