#19 Powwow Trail Restoration: FREE! Bonus Mystery Destination

Join Paul and Susan for one of the final trail clearings of 2020. We will begin our adventure on Thursday Oct. 22, 4:30 p.m. We will convoy/carpool from the metro area for the 250 mile drive north to the Powwow Trailhead. It will be dark for our final gear check and one mile hike to our first night's campsite next to the beautiful Isabella River. Amenities: latrine and fire grate.

Friday it's pack up and hike west of the wye, or north to Pose Lake to our three night base camp. Our camping and clearing area will be determined by reports from prior fall crews. Despite the title of this event, your crew leaders and the crew will know our route before we depart.

After arrival at our destination we will set up a basecamp. Saturday and Sunday are clearing days. Monday we will be hiking back to the trailhead and then traveling back to the Metro arriving about 6:00 pm.

What to expect:
Eleven hours of daylight.
Temperatures from 20d to 60d.
Possible campsite without latrine or fire grate
Sun, wind, rain, snow. October weather can be all conditions.
Fun in the late Fall forest.

Cost: $25 Meetup registration, your food while on trail, gas round trip for your vehicle or shared vehicle.

We will schedule a meet-and-greet, gear check, social distancing hike when this event is filled.

All volunteers must read and sign the BWAC participant liability form, BWAC health & medical self-disclosure form, BWAC policy for trips under covid-19, and the USFS volunteer agreement group signature form. Visit www.BoundaryWatersTrails.org for to review required forms and for a suggested gear list.

We welcome new volunteers; no experience required. Crew leaders will balance novice participants with more experienced members.

NEW VOLUNTEERS SHOULD CONTACT PAUL OR SUSAN TO MAKE CERTAIN THIS TRIP IS A GOOD FIT
